Biographical sketch
Mrs. Roy’s experience includes environmental and ecological compliance in aquatic and marine environments along the estuarine gulf coast and fresh waters of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Her areas of expertise include Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (LDNR) Coastal Use Permitting, Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) Scientific Collecting of Benthic Macroinvertebrates including Oyster Assessment, Aquatic and Marine Benthic and Surface Water Damage and Litigation Claims Review, USEPA Rapid Bio-Assessments of Streams and Wadeable Rivers and various TMDL/303(d) specific studies of creeks and rivers for NPDES discharges for industrial and municipal clients including the Alabama Department of Environmental Management Discharge Information Zone surveys.
As a benthic macro-invertebrate biologist, Mrs. Roy has managed and performed over 500 LDNR/Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) required oyster resource assessments including privately leased oyster bottoms and state seed grounds (including the collection of data in support of potential litigation as well as permitting requirements), taxonomically identified and performed forensic ecological studies utilizing benthic macro-invertebrates as indices of water and sediment quality, performed endangered mussel surveys and field investigations of potentially damaged water bottoms. Mrs. Roy has conducted pre- and post-construction oyster resource assessments and litigation support throughout the coastal counties and parishes of Texas and Louisiana for oil and gas well and facility locations and flowlines, workovers, proposed pipeline and pipeline maintenance, plug and abandonment of wells, removal of wells and flowlines as well as assessments for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
In the field, Mrs. Roy has extensive experience with the collection of water bottom type data including poling and side scan sonar, small vessel operation and navigation, in-situ data collection utilizing DGPS and highly specialized software, sediment collection, water quality monitoring (including turbidity testing) and zero-visibility shallow water scientific diving. She has also provided on-rig, tug and/or work vessel consulting during large equipment moves in sensitive areas of oyster leases and reefs. She has performed stream and mussel surveys that
