Biographical sketch
Mrs. Brown joined The Nature Conservancy in 2010. Mrs. Brown completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science and Biology from the University of Alabama and her Masters in Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island. Mrs. Brown has been involved in coastal project management and implementation for more than 14 years including experience working as a private ecologist with an extensive permitting background with marine policy and coastal restoration knowledge. Her primary responsibilities involve managing contracts, securing permits, collecting field monitoring data, and utilizing GIS in planning decisions for coastal and watershed conservation and restoration activities. Her latest accomplishment is the Lightning Point Restoration Project that started in late 2016 with acquiring about 83 acres of conservation land with NFWF GEBF and implementing a large scale restoration project with 1.5 miles of rock breakwaters, 40 acres of coastal habitats (tidal marsh, bare sand, and scrub-shrubs) built with more than 240,000 cubic yards of dredged material, and more than 2 miles of tidal creeks.
